FAQ

What is Idiomatics?

Idiomatics is a language game about idioms — expressions that don’t mean what they literally say, but reveal how people think, feel, and see the world.

Is this a language-learning app?

Not in the traditional sense. There are no grammar drills, no pressure, and no streaks. It’s designed to be curious, playful, and rewarding — whether you play for one minute or a whole session.

How does the game work?

You’ll guess the language and meaning of idioms from different parts of the world. Along the way, you’ll also get short explanations and small curiosities to make things stick.

Do idioms repeat?

In Journey mode, new levels introduce new idioms. Older idioms are not repeated within Journeys, so progress stays meaningful and fresh.

How does scoring work?

Points are awarded for correct answers (language and meaning). Some rounds apply a multiplier that boosts your score. Scores are meant to be fun — not a measure of intelligence or fluency.

What is the multiplier?

The multiplier increases your score in some rounds, rewarding progress and strong play. It’s designed to feel satisfying without punishing mistakes.

What are Journey, Daily, and Nightmare?

Journey is the main mode: themed levels and languages.
Daily (coming soon) is planned as one small challenge per day.
Nightmare (coming soon) is planned as a tougher mode for experienced players.

When will Daily and Nightmare be available?

The current plan is Northern Hemisphere summer 2026. These features are planned, but not guaranteed to be released by a specific date — or at all.

How much does Idiomatics cost?

Idiomatics is a one-time paid app.

  • Regular price: €1.99
  • Launch price: €0.99 (until March 1)

There are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.

Do you collect personal data?

No. Idiomatics does not collect, store, or sell personal data. No third-party ads, analytics, or tracking SDKs are used.

What data is shared with Apple / Game Center?

If you enable Game Center, scores may be submitted to Apple’s Game Center services for leaderboards, according to Apple’s own privacy policies and settings.

All other progress and preferences are stored locally on your device.

Do I need an account?

No account is required to play. If you use Game Center, that is handled through your Apple ID settings.

Will there be more idioms, languages, or levels?

That’s the goal. Idiomatics is built to grow over time with more journeys, idioms, and languages — at a sustainable pace.
